GI Prophylaxis in Pediatric Patients

GI Prophylaxis in Pediatric Patients on Ketorolac (Toradol).

This alert will fire to anyone who places an order for ketorolac on inpatient patients under the age of 18 who do not have an active order for an H2 blocker or proton pump inhibitor on their order profile.  The ordering provider can choose to place an additional order for famotidine from the alert or just click OK without making a selection to bypass the alert.

Alert: Progesterone Diluent Allergy

New alert: Progesterone Diluent Allergy

Progesterone IM is available as a specialty compounded product in different food-type oils:

·

Sesame oil (commercially available)
Cottonseed oil

·

The system is unable to add drug allergies for each of the diluents above, so an alert was developed to aid in notifying prescribers of a patient's oil allergy.

In outpatient clinics, this alert will fire if progesterone IM is ordered and the patient has a documented food allergy to one of the oil types above.

UMC only dispenses the commercially available progesterone IM product which has a diluent of sesame oil. If a patient is admitted to UMC and progesterone IM is ordered, this alert will only fire if the patient has a documented sesame oil allergy.
