PowerNotes

Health Maintenance Auto-Populate Function Removed

The Health Maintenance section in Powernote will no longer be available to auto-populate (shown below). Reasons for this include:

  • The delay that is sometimes associated with Health Maintenance expectations capturing recent changes and updating accordingly providers may inadvertently be entering incorrect information into the patients chart.
  • Expectations in a pending state are not included in the smart template.
  • Orders placed from the Health Maintenance tab are not available to populate the note.

The term can be selected from the note and will populate. Providers are encouraged to review the information for accuracy before including it in the note.

Changes in Default Font Settings

Increasing default font size in Powernote:

The default font settings in Powernote has been increased from 8.3 to 12 to allow for easier viewing of the in-progress Powernote. This will not affect the look of completed notes that are being viewed from within Clinical Notes. The change will only impace those users that have not previously customized their font size.

Users that would like to customize these font size can reach their preferences by opening a new Powernote > click on View at the top of the chart (the customize window will open > select the Font tab in the Customize window > change the Size to desired setting under each Category. The changes are shown on the open Powernote so it is easy to see what effect your changes have made. **DO NOT CHANGE THE PADDING FONT SIZE.**

Making a Personal Note Type List

For users of PowerChart who are in the hospital making different types of notes, the default Note Type List is long and cumbersome. Here's just a small portion of it:

It's only a few fairly non-intuitive steps to turn that god-forsaken list into something more like this:

Debra Thornton has created a video walkthough of the steps needed to do this.

You can watch it below or click here to watch it in a new simple window.
