Summary
Beginning on 1/4/2023, the Display Name of all users will be updated to a standard display to ensure names are standardized across Cerner.
Key Points
The Display Name will be formatted to the following:
New Default Format
FirstName LastName, PrimaryCredential
Previous Default Format
LastName Suffix PrimaryCredential, FirstName MiddleName
With the new name format, most first names and last names will mirror what exist in NPPES Registry and/or what was provided upon working at our organization to define the personnel as a user in Cerner.

Assigning an Ordering Provider to an Order
User’s name on a Document
Sorting users within the Orders Profile, Medication’s List, etc.
Provider’s name in the Patient Information components, Demographics MPage, Message Center Address Book,
Message Center General Message fields, etc.

How to Request to Change Name to Display a Different Name
After the new name format has been applied to all users, the user can submit a formal request to IT Clinical or Clinical Transformation for their Display Name to be manually adjusted.
